Symon Amatt, on this campsite in June 2017

Travelling party: Couple

Stayed for two nights in June. The site has two sanitaires but only the one by the reception was open, which makes for a very long walk if camped on the further side of the site. The facilities which were open were basic and clearly old but clean and the hot water was very hot and free. There were only four toilets open for the whole site, of which one was a traditional French style. The site has a pool but it cannot be called a swimming pool, it is not big enough, at best it's somewhere to go to cool off in the heat, but don't expect to swim in it. There are also a crazy golf, volleyball, basketball courts and a communal BBQ available. The pitches are very randomly spaced and if the site was busy it might feel overcrowded. Some, if not most plots are very shaded and some are almost dark due to the large amount of trees on the site but there are some open pitches along the side of the weir in the sun. The sound of the weir if pitched next to it drowns out the constant hum of the main road, but the further away from the weir, the more noticeable the sounds of the road become. Town is literally a 5 minute walk, with all the usual amenities. Wifi is available throughout most of the site but must be paid for, but the tourist information office in town has free wifi access if you are prepared to walk across the bridge. A key fob is required for the barrier at the site entrance and a deposit is required. On checking in we were asked for our passports despite having the camping card and camping card international. In all we enjoyed our stay here and would return.
