We were very disappointed with this campsite. It was very poor value for money. Lack of toilet paper was not a surprise but no hot water to the wash basins and a charge of 60 cents (needing a jeton) for hot water for dishwashing is unacceptable. The ACSI book says there are special pitches for motorhomes but we were put on a very small pitch in an area with caravans as well as motorhomes. Camping Westende is unforgettable but for the wrong reasons.

We stayed here overnight en route to the Dunkirk ferry. Now wished we'd parked [for free] by the beach instead! The receptionist gave me the longest 'interview' I have ever had when staying on a campsite, down to my wife's date of birth and maiden name! Then to be told that credit cards aren't accepted...
The toilet and showers were adequate, but why of why do they not supply toilet paper? Am I the only one to find it a bit demeaning to be walking to the toilet block carrying a roll of toilet paper?
The pitches were small, not separated and not especially easy to access by motorhome. And the ACSI price [16 Euros] was only one Euro less than the off-season motorhome rate. Overall, Camping Westende felt like a downmarket municipal site and was expensive for what it offered. Not recommended.

Limited touring pitches, mainly seasonal vans. Flat, marked pitches, some shade. Water and waste on pitch, 10 amp hook-up. Would be very crowded if all pitches were in use. Limited opening times at reception, find pitch and pay later. Suitable for larger vans with care.
Entrance to site not signed on road, but has name on large archway over entrance lane right on the main street in town. Use GPS co-ordinates to find.
Modern facilities but quite small cubicles, no toilet paper provided.
Fairly quiet. ACSI Card site. Credit Cards NOT accepted.

Used this site prior to leaving back home. Ok as stopover, but not much else. V.good chip shop at site entrance, Would agree other comments re site notices and toilet facilities. GPS takes you to back of site down one way road and very circuitous route, use directions in book !! Town nothing to talk about, but pleasant walk to beach where we discovered free parking for motorhomes overlooking sea (no power). Only 1 other caravan on site. Class as basic stopover.

I would never stay here again. Too overcrowded and quite inpleasant. Only met management staff and they were abrupt.

Visited mid October, easy to find but instructions for arrival outside reception hours are unly in Flemish and French. There was consternation in the female contingent on discovering toilets and showers closed - until the male contingent found theirs was clearly intended to serve everybody. The Sanitation block is good and the showers just about allow you to keep trouser bottoms and socks dry. It does seem rather mean to charge for hot water to wash dishes, etc. There are plenty of power points and, admirably, these double up as water supply points also - something others could usefully copy.
