This is a big site split into 2 with one only for statics & the other statics & caravans/camper vans. The part where the lake & beach, shop, restaurants etc has a lot of statics which are very VERY run down, some with windows smashed, even some just 'shells'. This lets the site down and could be dangerous for unsupervised kids (and there were a LOT of these). The beach & lake area is actually very nice. On the other site the caravan/tent pitches vary in size. There is also a snack bar and bar here. Useful site for the Zebrugge ferry and the pleasant bus ride into Brugge. TIP - most of the alcohol in the Brugge shops can be bought for a fraction of the price in supermarkets !
We stayed here because it is well-placed for visiting Bruges, but overall an odd campsite. Clearly popular with regular visitors, Klein Strand has a small lake bordered by a busy motorway. Hard to see why people would come here for their holidays rather than go to the coast, the water slides looked fun though. We visited in the off season when the touring site was quiet, except for a group of travellers/traders, a couple of whom were a bit threatening when we bumped into them. Modern, well-heated washblock, with a convoluted wristband system for the showers which was a pain. Bus to Bruges was slow and busy. Helpful staff who spoke good English. Good value with ACSI card but would not rush back.
Stayed September for 3 nights. The site is well laid out with generous sized pitches. I camped. The shower facilities are good and heated. I was a single traveler so opening the barriers with a right hand drive car was impossible as there wasn’t enough time to get in and out of the car. I put the card on a stick in reaches across ! Downside is the motorway is close by and quite noisy at night. Easy bike ride to Bruges (electric). About 8 miles. There is a Chinese restaurant on site - it’s ok. The village nearby has restaurants shops and supermarkets. Good location staff mostly friendly.
Information on arrival not very apparent, staff were not unpleasant, charged more than the advertised Acsi rate , plus card deposit, plus money for showers ( on top of the extra already charged ). Actual site and place are not bad. Toilets etc are showing tired and and need maintenance, I suppose it’s ok , but would not make it a first choice.
Site was relatively empty so we had free choice of pitch. Pitches spacious and lined with hedges. Hedges and grassy areas are kept immaculate. Jabbeke is within walking/cycling distance and has three supermarkets. Surrounded by cycle paths. Beautiful cycle route along the canal to Bruges. Details are on a notice board outside the toilet block. Only downside is you have to share a card for showers (pay deposit for the card which has credit for hot water). Ladies toilets were a bit messy, permanent site residents were hanging around in the ladies which was a bit of a turn off. There was road noise at night but not a bad site to base yourself for visiting Bruges.
Nice site to visit Bruges, helpful staff, great facilities, nice flat pitches. Good internet. 8/10. No motorway noise!
Just spent 4 nights here..first time in Belgium. all interactions with staff great...lovely pitch edged by hedges..shower block clean but didn\\\\\\\'t really use it....as extra for showers we decided to try out our 7 year old caravan\\\\\\\'s shower facility! excellent especially as tap right next to caravan...shared between 4 pitches ..play area looks ok...chinese didn\\\\\\\'t look particularly inviting. just our impression. easy cycle to Bruges slonv canal...definitely worth a visit...weather not great while here so didn\\\\\\\'t walk or cycle as much as intended...in hindsight 3 nights would have been ample...site very quiet as time of year...good for stopover...not much on village altho good supermarket...
We stayed here on our way to Italy. We actually stayed here at the end of March. We stopped for one night. It's near the motorway so it's great for a stopover. Pitches are good size and very level. Pitches have bushes separating them. Good pitch facilities water and electric. Showers were indoors so good for early in the season when it's cold. Very clean and pleasant. Reception staff were very friendly. There are supermarkets nearby within 5 min drive.
Nice clean & well maintained site with large pitches sectioned off with hedges. Some road noise from the motorway. Good location for visiting Bruges.
Stayed here for two nights on our way to the ferry at Zeebrugge. A nice site with good sized pitches and friendly staff, although we saw very little of them due to the short time we were there. Toilet facilities clean but a bit tired and not well looked after by some of the the other campers. The well publicised beach looked good but it is a long way from the touring pitches and was very busy when we were there as it is open to local residents. Local bus service is around a 15 minute walk from the site and tickets can be bought from reception
