Lots of noise from traffic, music from travelling casino and music from bar.
After it rains the drinking water was filled with dirt. There were no information.
The staff is extremly slow with almost anything.
Nice pitch with trees to cast shadow.
Perfectly adequate site with nice camping pitches and helpful staff. The close proximity to the motorway means that I will not return.
This is a big site split into 2 with one only for statics & the other statics & caravans/camper vans. The part where the lake & beach, shop, restaurants etc has a lot of statics which are very VERY run down, some with windows smashed, even some just 'shells'. This lets the site down and could be dangerous for unsupervised kids (and there were a LOT of these). The beach & lake area is actually very nice. On the other site the caravan/tent pitches vary in size. There is also a snack bar and bar here. Useful site for the Zebrugge ferry and the pleasant bus ride into Brugge. TIP - most of the alcohol in the Brugge shops can be bought for a fraction of the price in supermarkets !
We stayed here because it is well-placed for visiting Bruges, but overall an odd campsite. Clearly popular with regular visitors, Klein Strand has a small lake bordered by a busy motorway. Hard to see why people would come here for their holidays rather than go to the coast, the water slides looked fun though. We visited in the off season when the touring site was quiet, except for a group of travellers/traders, a couple of whom were a bit threatening when we bumped into them. Modern, well-heated washblock, with a convoluted wristband system for the showers which was a pain. Bus to Bruges was slow and busy. Helpful staff who spoke good English. Good value with ACSI card but would not rush back.
We arrived on a day we knew was a bank holiday, but we turned up to find the site entrance engulfed in the biggest market/car boot we have seen for a long time. Nothing had been put in place to manage the arrival and departure of site guests and it was totally chaotic.
Other reviews cover most things. Pitches were hedged and pretty but a good proportion are very difficult to access with a larger caravan if you have no mover. Toilets could have been cleaner. The motorway noise we found to be intrusive.
We felt the site did not offer good value and then having to pay extra for showers.
Very handy for Bruges by bus or car.
We would only suggest this site for an overnight stop or a brief visit to Bruges, but judging by how busy it was not everyone would agree with us!
Have used this site before prior to UK return. It has a bit of everything for everyone, but some of the staff and the organisation in general put a damper on things. Other reviewers have covered most of the problems, and for me this year was worse than last due to a motorbike rally that overcrowded the pitches to an extent that toilet facilities were barely coping. Proberbly my last visit.
The site is very convenient for an overnight stop if you are travelling to/from Calais to Germany. Although close to motorway, not very noisy. Convenient if you want to catch bus into Bruges.
Reasonable size pitches and clearly marked out. Toilets very dirty.
First site we used with ACSI card and charged for dog in error.
Information on arrival not very apparent, staff were not unpleasant, charged more than the advertised Acsi rate , plus card deposit, plus money for showers ( on top of the extra already charged ). Actual site and place are not bad. Toilets etc are showing tired and and need maintenance, I suppose it’s ok , but would not make it a first choice.
A good, flat site with good facilities. Many pitches are in groups of 4 in hedged enclosures with shared water and waste on the boundary. Access with a larger van was difficult, would have been impossible if all pitches had been occupied. There were pitches that would have been easier to access, but these were either already occupied or roped off as the grass was in very poor condition.
Site was relatively empty so we had free choice of pitch. Pitches spacious and lined with hedges. Hedges and grassy areas are kept immaculate. Jabbeke is within walking/cycling distance and has three supermarkets. Surrounded by cycle paths. Beautiful cycle route along the canal to Bruges. Details are on a notice board outside the toilet block. Only downside is you have to share a card for showers (pay deposit for the card which has credit for hot water). Ladies toilets were a bit messy, permanent site residents were hanging around in the ladies which was a bit of a turn off. There was road noise at night but not a bad site to base yourself for visiting Bruges.
